IPOA Career Opportunity
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is a State Authority created under an Act of Parliament. No. 35 of 2011, which provides for civilian oversight over the work of the police. IPOA is mandated to hold the police accountable to the public in the performance of their functions. The Authority is also required to give effect to the provision of Article 244 of the Constitution – that the police shall strive for professionalism and discipline and shall promote and practice transparency and accountability; and ensure independent oversight of the handling of complaints by the National Police Service (NPS).
The Authority now wishes to recruit a qualified, experienced, and result-oriented Kenyan citizen with drive, vision and creativity to fill the position of CEO/Director. The Board is searching for an exemplary professional who will inculcate and nurture a result-based management culture to improve staff work performance, ensuring a high level of responsibility and accountability. The position is responsible to the Board for the day-to-day management of the affairs of the Authority, and is responsible for Deputy Directors and heads of units. The CEO/Director is also Secretary of the Board.
IPOA advertised for various vacant positions which appeared in the Standard Newspaper on Wednesday, 28 August 2013 and in the Daily Nation, Friday, 30 August 2013.
The Authority would like to inform all the applicants that the recruitment process is going on in earnest, and that they should remain patient. The process has taken a little longer due to the number of positions advertised and resultant overwhelming applications received.
